Wolf Notes ( November 2020)

The weeks of November 2-6, 9-13, and 16-20 are planned to be three weeks of regular teaching and learning for our Group A, Group B, and Virtual Students.  As we saw last week, weather can always cause a change in plans, but our goal is to use these next three school weeks to help students make positive academic progress.  Our teachers have been instructed to be flexible with students who were impacted by the storm and unable to access curriculum due to property damage and power/internet issues.  What that looks like is that teachers should not be putting in zeros for missing work from the week of October 26-30 in order to give students this current week (November 2-6) to catch up.

Upcoming  School Events Due to last week’s weather, the OSSAA Marching Band Competition originally scheduled for October 27th has been moved to Tuesday, November 3rd at Yukon High School.   With Marching season being scaled back this year due to COVID-19, this is one of the only marching competitions that our students can be a part of.  We wish our students and directors the very best as they participate in this event!

Due to last week’s weather, the OSSAA State Cross Country Championships (hosted by Edmond Santa Fe HS) originally scheduled for October 31st have been moved to Wednesday, November 4th.  Santa Fe will compete in the Class 6A Division (for Girls and Boys) starting at 8:00 am.  This is an awesome outdoor event hosted by our school!  Come out and support the Wolves at 8:00 am as they run on their home course in the State Cross Country Meet!

With the expansion of the football playoffs, our football team has already clinched a home playoff game in the first round of playoffs on November 13th.  This Friday on November 6th we have an opportunity to win our second District Championship in a row when we host Norman at Wolves Stadium at 7:00 pm.

Vocal Music had to postpone some performances last week due to weather, and they will be rescheduling those events during November.  Be looking for more information when it is announced later this week.

Rehearsals for our Fall Play “Lost in Yonkers”  will be continuing during November in advance of the performances on December 3rd and 4th.

Speech/Debate/Competitive Drama will be competing in upcoming tournaments during November and December.

Winter Sports (Basketball, Wrestling, Swimming) begin competition during November and December.

Student Council will be announcing our Double Wolf Dare Week recipient during the week of November 2-6.  Our students and sponsor have been very diligent in making an informed choice to pick a worthwhile non-profit to partner with for DWDW 2021.  They are excited to share this news with the Santa Fe Community!

Our parent group continues to support Santa Fe by providing supplies for the Santa Fe food pantry.  Food and drink items are available daily for those in need.  Our Back Hall Attendance Office is always willing to help students access items.  Students are also encouraged to speak to a trusted faculty or staff member if they need assistance.

Best wishes for a safe and meaningful holiday season!  We are hopeful that all of our Santa Fe stakeholders (students, faculty, staff, parents, community) can enjoy the months of November and December while also working together to make the end of first semester a positive experience for everyone, especially our students!  Protect the PACK!
